Ever since the end of last year, I've been running the blog on and off — actually, "off" is probably the more accurate word.

Around the turn of the year, several events overlapped, and it also seems like a period where coding took up a much smaller share of my daily life.

On top of that, my slightly broken selective perfectionism, combined with writing the blog, dropped me into an infinite loop. Every time something bothered me, or some random performance dip showed up, my affection for the blog dropped like a rock. Even comparing it to a scam coin's chart, I don't think I've seen a decline this steep.

Whether it's unfortunate or fortunate, since the blog had already gotten onto a fairly stable track, even a six-month absence didn't drop the visitor count all that much.

Honestly, despite what I said, I was actually pretty busy. That's because I stepped outside the "developer" mold and had a lot more varied experiences.

Let me introduce a few of the highlights..

I designed and ran an industrial complex not unlike Silicon Valley.

I was so busy with this that leaving work at dawn became routine during that season.

I also secured law and order in a lawless zone where the officer fatality rate was pushing 100%...

I had the misfortune of getting hired by a black company and risked my life scavenging space junk.

That job was too scary to keep up for long.

I engaged in various activities centered on mining in an unfamiliar land,

and spread managed democracy to alien species on an unfamiliar planet.

It reminded me of Starship Troopers, which I watched as a kid, so I'm still steadily spreading it even now.

Well... not exactly.

First of all, I switched jobs!

I still liked my previous company, but there were various small factors, and a reasonable opportunity came along, so I switched.

Honestly, except for when I joined my first company, I got into every other job through referrals from acquaintances, so preparing a job switch felt like a hassle too....

And as I mentioned at the start, I said I wasn't happy with the blog..

So I revamped it again this time. It took about 3 months, I think. This time I also tore down that about page I never liked and rebuilt it.

This makes 5 times already. They say a decade changes a landscape, but this blog has been torn down and rebuilt 5 times in exactly 3 years (started May 2021), which is honestly remarkable.

It's like the Miracle on the Han River happening again right here — where people said it would take at least 70 years for Korea to stabilize after the Korean War, and instead the GDP figures shot up within just a few years, brushing that prediction off with a casual "well, whatever."

There's a saying called the Ship of Theseus. Suppose there's a ship, and as it's gradually repaired over time, its original parts get replaced one by one, until eventually none of the original parts remain, leaving a ship that looks the same but is made of entirely different origins.

Is this ship really the Ship of Theseus?

My blog has replaced everything 5 times in just 3 years.

Theseus should be grateful he wasn't born a few centuries later than me.

I have no doubt that somewhere, in a parallel universe where I was born a few centuries before Theseus, there exists a paradox called RWB's blog.

So, to sum it up, I'm back.

With an even newer blog, and an all-new about page.

Still, being a developer and all, there's been quite a satisfying amount of progress in terms of structure and code.

I'll save that for a dev log post though....

I've got a lot of ideas lined up to write about, but who knows when I'll actually get around to writing them all.
